How to Make a Dollar Tree Door Swag from Mini Trees: Step-by-Step Tutorial

Celebrate the holiday and welcome winter with this easy and inexpensive Dollar Tree DIY Christmas swag wreath for the front door, made from 2 miniature Christmas trees and other dollar store items.

Ingredients

  • 2 Dollar Tree white miniature Christmas trees
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Dollar Tree gold berry picks
  • Dollar Tree red berries frosted white on top
  • Dollar Tree red and black bow
  • Dollar Tree glitter vase filler
  • Dollar Tree pine picks these come in a bag
  • Twine or string
  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Open up the boxes of the white Christmas trees and remove the bases. Discard the bases, as they won't be needed for this project. Lay the trees so the ends overlap each other. Secure them with a generous amount of hot glue and some twine. Tie the twine tightly and leave some extra twine to hang the swag.
  • Use the twist tie on the back of the bow to secure it to the center of where the trees meet, tying it back tightly.
  • Use wire cutters or scissors to clip off sections of the gold berries. Add them to either side of the bow, tucking them under a bit and securing them with hot glue.
  • Lay the pine picks in an X shape and secure them to the *backside* of the trees with hot glue, allowing them to stick out a bit.
  • Add the red berries with hot glue randomly around the gold berries on both sides. I used the entire bag
  • Finally, enhance the swag by incorporating some of the silver pieces of the vase filler, adding an extra pop of color and additional texture.
  • Your Dollar Tree White Christmas Swag is now ready to adorn your home with festive charm!

Notes

Variations for the DIY Christmas Swag
While the basic tutorial provides a classic and elegant Christmas swag, feel free to get creative and add your personal touch.
  • Swap the miniature white trees for the green miniature trees for a more traditional pine swag.
  • Consider incorporating additional elements and seasonal accents like miniature ornaments, festive ribbons, dried oranges, pinecones, or even LED lights for a twinkling effect.
  • Experiment with different color combinations in ribbons and accessories to match your unique holiday theme.
  • Change the shape by changing how you layer your mini Christmas trees. Make a teardrop swag by overlapping the two swag sections and the extra greenery elements in the same direction, with all the branches pointed down and out.
