How to Make an Easy Farmhouse Christmas Wreath: Step-by-Step Tutorial
Make the easiest Christmas wreath DIY! Make your own DIY farmhouse Christmas wreath without the expense, a perfect wreath for beginners. All you need is a basic wreath and a couple of Dollar Tree floral picks to make this showstopping front door wreath for the entire winter season.
Ingredients
- 18-inch grapevine wreath available at craft stores like Michaels, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby or Walmart for $5-10 – and don’t forget to use a coupon!
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
- Dollar Tree picks I used 2 each of the buffalo check ornament pick, lamb’s ear pick, flat holly with berries pick, and evergreen pine greenery pick
- Red and Black buffalo check bow from the craft store or learn to make your own fancy ribbon bow here
Instructions
- Attach the Bow: Start by attaching the red and black buffalo check bow to the wreath along the side, using the twist tie that comes with the wreath. Secure it further with twine, floral wire, or glue if needed.
- Prepare the Picks: Use wire cutters to trim the stems of the greenery picks. Cut the flat holly pieces, lamb’s ear, and buffalo check ornament pieces, leaving an inch or two of the stem for weaving into the wreath form.
- Weave the Picks: Apply a line of hot glue to the stem of each pick and weave them into the grapevine wreath. Begin with the greenery picks, followed by the flat holly and buffalo check ornament pieces. Place the picks symmetrically, centered around the wreath, for a balanced and interesting wreath arrangement.
Notes
As always, work with what you can find at your local Dollar Tree or craft store - use different greenery stems and leaves or vines, add sleigh bells or dried oranges, swap the buffalo check for burlap ribbon, etc.
