7 Ways to Decorate with Red
Hey Remodelaholics! It’s Karah here again with my seasonal update for you for February. You can check out the winter wreath we made in January here.
I hope the new year has been treating you sell so far, we’ve been plugging away at our home renovation and I’ve been playing around with all different arrangements of decor. Do you do that? Shift things here and move them there until they just feel right to you? Now, I don’t know about you but I’m not really much of a Valentine’s Day decorator. But I do think it’s fun to incorporate a few extra pops of red around the house this time of year. More a subtle ode to the holiday of love than any in your face cupid crafts. Not that there’s anything wrong with a good ol’ cupid craft every now and again. 🙂
But with a few simple alterations here are 7 ways to decorate with red that can easily be switched out whenever the urge hits you. We’re not talking painted walls here. 🙂
7 Ways to Decorate With Red
Candles – Mine are actually remnants of my Christmas decor. Before you get rid of everything after the big end of the year celebrations, take a look around, what little bits of red would be fun to keep out just a little longer?
Books – I have been using my books as an eclectic way to hold our cable and Apple tv box right up under our tv (no cords!). But look what happens when all of the red ones find their way together? Thrift shops and yard sales are a great place to find weathered old red books.
Book Page Heart – If you do feel like getting a little crafty, this book page heart is a fun way to infuse some love into your decor. And upcycle an old book as well.
Throw Blanket Switcharoo – We normally have a yellow throw on our couch, but with one little switch to this red option, combined with a few other small touches and you’ve found yourself with a subtle red theme. This chenille option looks so comfy! (affiliate link)
Small Decor Items – Red beaded coasters and a little potpourri around a candle. Simple and subtle, but fills out the look in the room
Accessories – A simple accessory update, like this chippy red vintage looking clock would be a fun addition to any space. Affiliate link here. (It’s less than $25!!)
Lamp Shade – And finally, check out this fun lamp shade project from How to Nest for Less. A simple swatch of a fun fabric can change up the look of any space, and you’re not making such a large investment that you won’t mind just switching it up again when the mood strikes.
Sometimes even the simplest of upgrades can give us the look we’re going for in a subtle way.
So tell me, do you switch up your color schemes throughout the year?

And to see what projects we’ve been ticking off the ol’ house renovation to-do list you can get all caught up here. Let’s just say it’s time I update that exterior shot. 🙂
I love the touches of red especially the lampshade. My house has red accents already so it looks like I’m decorating for Valentine’s Day.
All it takes is a little red, right? That lampshade look like such a fun project.
