Fireplace Update! Mosaic Tiles
There wasn’t really anything wrong with my fireplace before…other than it was cookie cutter/builder grade fireplace.
I wanted to liven it up a little.
Here is what it looked like before….(this was the only picture I could find, and there happens to be a chair sitting in front of it..sorry)
Here is the tile I picked out to use. It comes in 12×12 sheets at Lowe’s for about $10 a piece. I think I ended up using 8 sheets for this project.
Putting the tile in was MUCH easier than I thought. I usedTHIS tutorial as a guide to get me started.
Once I was finished, I still didn’t like the out-dated brass on the door.
So, I taped all around the fireplace and carefully spray painted the brass!
Now I have a “new” fireplace to sit and enjoy!!!!
I love the way the new tile adds character to my living room!

Boy now that right there makes me want to rip out the tile and brick and do this. 🙂
Did you take out the existing tile out before you tiled? I want to do this to mine but I’m afraid to tackle the old tile removal. It looks wonderful!
Ooooh I love that! The colors are great. Wish I had a fireplace to redo! 🙂
Wow, it looks beautiful! We just redid our fireplace too, I love how it changes the whole look of a room.
This is wonderful! Can I ask the name of the tile? Also, is there a way to get added to the blog you used as a starting point?
Emily, I am not sure this was a guest poster… but I am sure if you click on the link to their blog at the top of the post that they would love to help you out!
