Get This Look: Fixer Upper Mountain House Living Room
If you haven’t heard, the last season of Fixer Upper is finally here! Have you been watching? Today we’re going to discuss getting the look of the Fixer Upper Mountain House living room from episode two of this season!
The family wanted a clean and modern traditional style in the home, replacing the former 80’s vibes. Joanna used soft textures, unexpected shapes, and clean accents to achieve the look the family was craving!
Let’s dig into the design features a bit further.
The room is flooded with natural sunlight from the multitude of windows. Joanna layered textured natural roman shades with soft ivory drapes to create dimension around the beautiful windows.
The natural light only helps to emphasize the gorgeous details of the ceiling. Although most of the design elements feel casual and relaxed, the ceiling detail helps provide a more polished and formal look. Thanks to a reader, we also found the exact arched window mirror.
Natural wood tones are used throughout the space to add warmth to all the neutrals. You’ll see those tones in the bookshelf, the coffee table, the woven window shades, and the baskets throughout the room.
The fireplace wall is a work of art! The overall lines tend to be fairly traditional, but Joanna added modern touches like black and white artwork, iron tapers for the candles, and the gray channelled chair to balance out the look. You can see this pillow and this pillow used repeatedly throughout the room for a cohesive look. Joanna used sweater knit poufs like these to add additional texture, warmth and seating to the fireplace area.
The colors in the room are all tied together with a gorgeous vintage style rug. This one is very similar. The overall result is that modern traditional look the homeowners wanted, and the space feels incredibly welcoming for family and guests!
