Best Colors for Your Home: Orange
Hi there!! Megan here from Megan Campbell Designs back to bring you another addition of the Color Files!! You might have seen my other Color Files posts back in January (Navy Blue) and February (Fuchsia). Well this month….prepare yourself for bright color!!!
Orange can be such a dramatic color…..even in small doses. Tory Burch is one designer that uses Orange all the time. Look at her Flagship Madison Avenue store….saturated in deep orange. I think it is so dramatic…makes me want to be there!!

One of my all time favorite designers, Jonathan Adler also has a love affair with Orange. In fact….much of his New York apartment is decorated using bright Orange. It is so fun paired with all of the other bright colors in his home.

I love this fun area of Jonathan Adler’s apartment. Love all of the different colors and textures that he adds to his space….super fun.

How about Orange in the kitchen?? Could you handle these cabinets everyday??

Or these gorgeous Orange lacquered kitchen cabinets……

One last room that I had to share….one of my favorite Husband/Wife design teams…the Novogratz. They are known for bright/bold colors. What do you think of this intense bedroom….total color saturation?

If total saturation of Orange is too much…..then good news. We are seeing Orange in many accessories such as rugs, lighting and pillows….Sometimes using a color like Orange for accessories or small touches in a room can be enough color.
I keep dreaming about these orange chairs……How cool would they be around the Ikea Docksta table??

I love this Orange rug….it would be perfect in a bedroom or dining room…..

Or this super fun Orange lamp….how cute would this be in a bedroom paired with a softer blue or bright pink??

Pillows are always a fun and inexpensive way to add a punch of bright color as well.

I have also noticed some of the big fabric brands bringing back fun Orange fabrics.
These would be so pretty on a chair, pillows or even as fun curtains…

I love this Amy Butler fabric for a kids room. How fun would bedding or curtains be out of this fabric??

And some examples of rooms that have used Orange as an accent color instead of the main color…..

And one last one……

I hope that this post has inspired you to think a little “outside of the box” as far as using bold colors. People seem to be afraid of bold color sometimes, but whether used as your main color or an accent, color can be so pretty. I really do believe you can have a fabulous space, without spending a ton of money….bright colors are one way this can be achieved. A lot of bang for your buck…..
…until next month…please stop on by Megan Campbell Designs and check me out!!
Be Well,
Megan

TV Room Makeover with the PERFECT Orange Paint
I LOVE orange! I painted my laundry room orange because I want a color that makes me happy when I have to be in there. My butler’s pantry and my bedroom are also orange.
Love the orange!! It makes everything so bright and funky fun! Love it!!
We’ve had an orange living room for awhile! We love it!
Orange is a very strong, and energetic color! It kind of goes the same for Green! But any rooms in a house that has a lot of orange seem to be the happiest places in the house! At night it’s settle, but during the day it’s very bright and soothing!
I think the best area for a big Orange colored room would be the kitchen! But then again, in the kitchen a lot of colors go great in. Great article, keep them coming and I’ll be sure to keep coming back to read them!
We actually have one accent item in orange in EVERY room. I love mixing it up, but still kind’ve tying it all together with a similar yer far-from-boring POP of color. 🙂
Great idea, Hope!
I love orange..
I just painted a small room orange,, I LOVE IT!! It is a feel good color.. Now I am just trying to figure out what other colors to go in it,.. thinking tans , browns and blues.. those are the colors in the rest of the house..
