White Kitchen Renovation
from Cobblestone Development Group

When purchasing this home flip, we knew the kitchen was going to be a fun (and lengthy!) project. The kitchen already had great bones, and overall it had a pretty solid layout that we planned on keeping. The only issue was the space itself was stuck in the 90s, and needed a major update!

We started off by getting rid of the awful forest green countertops (who ever thought that was a good idea?) We wanted to give the room a open and airy feel, so we installed a dark granite to compliment the white cabinetry to follow. We chose our best go-to bright grey (Stonington grey from Benjamin Moore, to be exact) to replace the dingy yellow paint, and added a stone subway tile backsplash.

The dated finishes were replaced with high-end cabinetry in a bright white. Designed specifically to fit the space, it opened up the room ten fold and we were finally able to see some true progress! Luckily for us, one of the few things we were able to keep in this space were the solid oak hardwood floors; they just needed a good clean and were good to go!

Next, we added some gorgeous brass lighting fixtures gave it a very rustic yet modern touch. The ones installed are some of our favorite Pendants from Restoration Hardware. To add to the charm, we put in a farmhouse sink with a brand new stainless steel faucet from a local Virginian company – Ferguson’s.

All major systems needed a revamp, and once we installed some fabulous appliances – the room instantly was brought straight into the 21st century! We added the essentials: a massive sub-zero refrigerator,  a dishwasher, and an oven with a wolf range all in stainless steel. As an avid coffee drinker, my favorite piece is the wonderful built-in espresso machine.

Looking back, it’s hard even to imagine the space as it was. We’re very pleased with the outcome and we think it made an appropriate focal point for this particular home. Giving it a modern look really did the touch. The best part, is that the family (and the family dog, Stella) loved it!

  1. This is probably one of my favorite make-overs!!! Just gorgeous! I know so many like the wood, but for me, white is wonderful. It was big before, but after, looks like you gained ten feet. I have a VERY small kitchen that had great dark cabinets, and as soon as I changed to white on one wall, the kitchen expanded. Now, I’m talking small, because I don’t have any room for a dishwasher in my room, but now I can live with it. There is no window in this area either!!! The only thing I would do differently in yours would be I have to have bling in my lights. But the ones you chose are perfect!!! Love it all

    1. Post a photo of your kitchen now with the white cabinets. I also have a small kitchen and am in a delimna on what to do. Light gray floors (ugh)…we did install quartzite counters.

I love this kitchen, but am unsure with the light gray tile floors if it will be too pale.

  2. Awesome renovation. As someone who has done several renos, white kitchens are a personal favorite. I especially appreciated all the details you included, such as the pot filler, backsplash, and pendant lighting. Nice work.
