It’s tradition, it’s insightful, it’s fun, and it’s like candy to us DIYers. We want to share some of these amazing homes with our readers and our hope is that you find inspiration and satisfaction as you contemplate ideas for your own home. We’re starting off with a jaw-dropping yet comfortable modern farmhouse home. Come take a look!
Comfortable Modern Farmhouse Home Tour
We’re starting our new Home Tours series with one of our favorite homes from the 2018 Utah Valley Parade of Homes. This beautiful home was built by Arive Homes and designed by Brandalyn Dennis Interior Design. The entire house embodies comfort and class by using a blend of modern and farmhouse design elements. Custom moldings, large wood beams, and abundant natural lighting create the perfect backdrop for a cozy, yet elegant home. Scandinavian decor brings simplicity and harmony and global accents create interest. Farmhouse floors, cabinetry, and furnishings give this home that timeless, lived-in feeling.
Modern Farmhouse Living Room
What we love about this great room: many style and decor elements combine to create a home that reflects the owner’s style and experiences. The simple fireplace is flanked by gorgeous mirrors, creating an inviting ambiance.
This space has a neutral palette that can be played up to suit changing tastes. From that fabulous farmhouse chandelier to the jute rug and neutral furnishings, it feels cohesive.

Two-Tone Modern Farmhouse Kitchen
The kitchen has its own unique feel. The space is grounded by the rustic lower cabinet and flooring while unique pendant lights and sleek upper cabinets tend toward modern flair. A built-in bench adds a useful and fun touch.
The white countertop is unobtrusive to this space and adds to the overall flow of the room and the two-tone cabinets, in addition to being out-of-the-norm and NOT WHITE, help unify the colors and textures of the open plan living room and kitchen area.

Modern Farmhouse Shared Boys’ Bedroom
Rustic elements such as the metal bed frames and pinstripe bedding create a cozy and comfortable bedroom for kids.
A round mirror and fun accent pieces convey character in this room. Gold hardware and accents add warmth.

Modern Farmhouse Mudroom
The fabulous mudroom has a style all its own. The gray cabinets with large hooks and builts-ins for baskets bring functionality and order while the black and white flooring adds interest. Build your own custom mudroom lockers like these by following the tutorial here.
