Immaculate Living Room
Check out the beautiful way this living room was designed: with baby blue and coral hues that make your heart melt.

Hi, I’m Jessica from Stay at Home-ista. I am a Harvard-trained architect, now proudly staying at home with 3 small children, a new house to decorate (that I designed!), and three meals a day to put on the table. That makes me a stay at home mom, house decorator, blogger, baker and occasional craft-maker. I’m putting my passion for design, food and family to work! I built the dream, but I still live in reality.
We live in our living room.
Everyday. So other than the kitchen it is the most used room in the house. Our TV is there, and after the kids go to bed that is where we will watch a show or two ourselves. The kids are limited in their viewing, mostly to car travel, airplane travel, and at-home haircuts.
If you ask my husband, he might tell you that I never leave “my spot” on the couch. But I do. Someone has to cook in the kitchen, right? My spot is perfectly set on the leather couch so that I can watch tv, see kids on the deck, watch a child going potty in the powder room if they leave the door open, and it has a side table to put my glass while nursing the baby. Oh, and it’s leather, so when the baby spits up, I can wipe it off.
The leather ones are the Wells sofa and settee from Room and Board. The blue love seats are from Crate and Barrel.
We designed the coffee table ourselves, since we couldn’t find anything in stores that was the right scale.
We sourced the live-edge slab when it was unfinished, chose a stain, then designed the legs and had them fabricated by an iron works we know. When you are both architects, you can do that. Artisan Burlwood, where we found the top will also do all of that for you, which might be easier.
I’m also in love with this very chic navy laptop table. It slides right over your lap to provide plenty of space for a laptop and a drink. This one is from Crate and Barrel, but Room & Board has some in amazing colors (hot pink!).
We added the telescope to break up the horizon in the room. Our kids also like to stand on the settee and look for San Francisco. Or Papa’s house. My dad lives across the bay, and in theory, if there is no fog, we could see him.
Same idea with the floor vase and branches from Ikea (shhh, don’t tell anyone!)
The round table under the TV used to be in our entry, but it moved here once we inherited my childhood piano from my mother’s house.
The side tables are from Overstock, and I added a navy and white greek key tray from Z Gallerie and a collection of architecture books underneath. And the gardening book I need if I ever want anything to grow on our deck.
Similar to the kitchen, we have UV shades in here as well, to block out the afternoon sun and to cut glare on the TV. The deer head is from Z Gallerie, you can read more about the mantle-scape here.

Love it!
Love everything about Jessica’s home! She’s got style – love her color choices and that fabulous coffee table. The rest of her home is equally amazing!

What a beautifully pulled together space. Looks like a great spot for conversation.

This room should be in magazines it’s so well decorated. It makes me happy to just look at it. I would be in pure bliss if I could live there 🙂
Leather is such a great idea when you have young children and babies. I wish I had known this in the early days of motherhood. It would have made clean up so much easier.
Oh my goodness, what’s not to love!?

What a beautiful living room. I’m loving your rug. Where ever did you get it?
It’s just lovely…
Lovely! Could you share the paint color? I have been looking for the perfect blue and you’ve found it! Thanks!
I can describe this living room in just one word: stunning!
I love this living room! Jessica’s style and design savvy shows in every detail — amazing that she has 3 little ones careening around, isn’t it?
I love this space so much. That Jessica is quite stylish. 🙂
Hello,
The room looks great! My question is about the Wells sofa. I really love the design of this sofa. I was planning to purchase a 78″ wells sofa (in the stock leather), however I read bad reviews about the sofa (in fabric) on the Room and Board website. The main complaint is that people who purchased the sofa have complained about the middle support beam — they say you can feel the beam under the cushions after you’ve had the sofa for a couple months. Wondering if you’ve experienced this or any other issues with the sofa? I so badly want to buy this sofa, but that beam issue is holding me back.
Thanks,
Jeff
Beautiful! How is the Wells sofa holding up after the last 2 years?
Hi Jeanette! This post was from a guest of ours, so you’ll have to head over to her blog (linked at the top of the post) to ask her there. Sorry! Thanks for reading!
We are considering the Wells sofa in the same color. How does the color wear with your kids? Does it stain easily?
