Our door is always open…

We finally painted our front door!!!
Isn’t it AMAZING what paint can do?

We love to look at it now.
We painted the door and door casing.

Also that same day, I literally scrubbed about a million stain splatters
(from a previous owner) off of half of our siding.
It was chocolate brown stain on light grey siding! No so pretty!
It took a lot of time, but now it feels like we have new siding.

Justin installed a new front porch light
(among other things i.e. the house number, kick plate, and shutters
I installed the new handle and dead bolt).

The finished product!
I forgot to take a picture of the front door before! (one of my biggest pet peeves)
Luckily the side door is identical, besides the added doggie door.
The light is also the same as what used to be next to our front door.
The side door will be one of our next projects, we are also adding a screen door,
so I can open it up to get some extra air and light.
What do you think? I love comments!

  1. Love this! What kind of paint did you use? It looks 1000 times better with the shine and what material did you use on the bottom of the door? You also changed out the hardware which I have to look up to see if I can do.. Did you find it easy? Thanks.

    1. Helen, it has been so long since we painted that door, I can’t remember. We used a new door kick plate for the bottom of the door. I believe it was a bronze finish, something dark to match the dark hardware. It was fairly easy. It does help to have another person when switching out the hinges though. Thanks for loving it. We love the red door.
