25 Best Soups

Brrrrr!  When we changed jobs and houses recently, we also changed climates, big time!  This week, snow fell on the ground in my very own yard… can you believe that?  There’s a pretty good chance that before too long, what Utah claims is the “greatest snow on earth” will be piling up around us.  I have to mentally prepare for this.  I’ve already made some lists of the winter gear that we need to find, in our packed to the rims storage unit and I am NOT excited about that and we’re trying to forget remember how to use an ice scraper on our windshield.  The long, cold, snowy Utah winters are going to take some getting used to after living in Texas for the past few years.

The one thing I’m ready to enjoy about colder weather?  All the yummy comfort foods that smell and feel so good on a cold winter’s night.  Some of our favorite hot meals around here are the ones that include soups or stews.  Most soups can feed a crowd without spending a bundle.  If your family is smaller, like mine, it’s really easy to freeze your leftover soup and reheat it later.  It’s not too hard to transport a steaming pot of stew to a friend in need.  And nothing beats walking into the house on a cold day and getting a whiff of the aroma of a savory pot of soup simmering on the kitchen stove.

I’ve been collecting the best soup recipes to try out this fall and winter.  I’ll be fixing a few family favorites, adding some classic flavors, and experimenting with  some brand new recipes.  Want to see what we’ll be eating for the next few months?  Good!
