It’s no secret: I love chocolate. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, chocolate and I have a lifetime commitment. We’re in this for the long haul, and I take our love affair very seriously. Wherever I go, it’s not far from chocolate. I’ve even found creative ways to get my chocolate fix when I’m dieting. I am not kidding, don’t mess with my chocolate!
I know I’m not alone when it comes to this obsession. Long ago, the Mayan people called it “food of the gods.” Just in the U.S., my fellow chocolate lovers spend more than $18 billion a year on their treats. It’s been successfully paired with just about everything…do a Google search on chocolate, and new taste sensations will come up like chocolate covered bacon, chile-infused chocolate, and chocolate potato chips. There’s even scientific evidence behind why we love chocolate so much: eating it triggers the same brain hormone that we produce when we’re feeling infatuated and its yummy melt-in-your-mouth texture comes from the fact that the perfect melting point for cocoa butter is 98.6 degrees!
Stick around here long and you’ll soon notice that most of the dessert recipes I share include my favorite ingredient. Think of me as the ambassador of chocolate.
