All That Glitters – A Sparkly Room Fit for a Teen Girl
One thing I really like about each of these spaces is how they feel very put together and chic, but not too serious. You could really envision a young girl enjoying any of them (although I know plenty of grown women who would love to live in one of these rooms too!).
With all that inspiration in mind, I got to work on a mood board of my own. I really wanted something that had a lot of feminine touches and sparkle! To get the look I was after, I incorporated a mixture of metallics, sparkle, crystals, glitter, and soft pink tones into the space. You can’t get much more girly than that, my friends.

How to Style a Glittery Room for a Teen Girl
Here are my tips to get just the right combo of glamour and girly:
• Mix metals – Sticking with one metallic family definitely has it’s place, but in this space, I kept it from feeling too stuffy by mixing up the metallics. Having gold, silver, and bronze elements gives a definite sophisticated shine to the space, but the combination of all three keeps it from being too serious, and gives the room a warm feeling, as though it was collected over time.
• Mirrors add depth – The element of sparkles that makes them so intriguing is the way they reflect the light. Similar to a mirror, you can use this to your advantage by allowing sparkly elements, like the wallpaper in the moodboard above, to bounce light around the room and help it feel larger and more open. Speaking of mirrors, their smooth glassy surfaces blend beautifully with metalics, especially in a girly space like this one! I particularly like the geometric mirrored box, which adds both a reflective element and an interesting shape.
• Layer in texture – Metallics can feel cold when used in large doses, so be sure to add layers of texture to your space to give it an inviting atmosphere. In this space, elements like the rug, the velvet pillow, the woven basket, and the rustic bench all add a softer touch to the room.
• It’s all in the accents – This room relies heavily on the accents to pull it all together. In particular, the coral color scattered throughout the space bring in some much needed warmth and a pop of color.
So there you have it! A pretty, sparkly room fit for a teen. As always, thank you to the Remodelaholic team for having me back each month. If you like what you see, be sure to visit me over on my blog, DesigningDawn, or follow along on social media. See you again next month!
