I’m Laurel of SoPo Cottage. My husband and I have a passion for renovating old houses. We’ve done it many times in our own homes, but now we want to see if we can turn that passion into a business model – in this tough real estate market. Are we crazy? Maybe, but we want to give it a try. And through our blog, we’ll share our experiences as we renovate and decorate these houses for today’s modern lifestyle.
Late last year, we took the plunge – we quit our jobs and started our first project, a 1900 Victorian. We loved every minute of this top to bottom renovation,. Once it was finished, we put it on the market and sold it in 4 days – with multiple offers!
Can we make a living doing this? Well, it’s certainly not a get rich scheme! But we’re enjoying ourselves and love renovating classic old homes for the next generation of owners.

The kitchen’s transformation is just awesome. 5 stars!
The best part of this home remodel is that it was not too dramatic. The exterior especially just needed a bit of updating. We wonder how the inhabitants of this home managed to cope with their home remodel. We’d love to hear their tips for home renovations.
Laurel & hubby. you did a super job. It is not dissimilar to a project my wife just completed . . . Love the porch work particularly and you saved that powder room. More importantly though, and judging from the quick offers, you obviously know your market. Wish you luck … though my gut says it probably aint a bad time to be in the flipping biz (if you’re in the right area). cheers & thanks for sharing Remodelaholic.
