25 Herringbone Projects for Your Home
Herringbone Home Decor Projects and Ideas
Geometric patterns in the home are in — and totally DIY-able! The chevron is still popular, but other geometric patterns (like hexagons) are making their way into homes everywhere. Herringbone pattern is similar to chevron, but just enough different to feel fresh and wonderful.
Like any pattern (or collection of patterns), herringbone can fit any decorating style. Go all-in with an accent wall or ceiling, or add the trend in smaller doses like a throw pillow, art piece, or t-shirt. You can tone down the pattern by using a single color, or really make it stand out by using shades of the same color or a whole color scheme in one herringbone segment.

Crazy timing Cassity! I JUST posted the big reveal of the herringbone accent wall we did in our twins’ big-girl room! Here’s the link! 🙂
Beth, that looks awesome! Lots of work! I bet it was worth it though. Great job!
I just did a herringbone accent wall in my dining room! Herringbone is totally addictive!
I have long gushed over herringbone-laid floors, so not only the wood floors make me swoon (esp. how they do it across the pond) but also those brick floors. The first “idea house” I remember reading about was in Southern Living several years ago and they had a brick floor in the entry. I don’t think it was herringbone, but the combination of my favorite pattern with a not-over-used flooring material is awesome in my book.
Thanks for the comment Hollie!
I just refinished a curb find dresser with a navy blue and white herringbone accent! I love herringbone and all of the above look great! Thanks for sharing. https://chateaumatteau.wordpress.com/2014/01/24/rescued-roadkill-turned-herringbone-dresser/
