Hey Remodelaholic readers! I’m Sarah and I’m back to share another mood board with you this month. September is Back to school month for most of us, or if you just graduated in 2014, it might be the start of a new adventure: college! For lots first year students, living in a college dorm for the first time = freedom!! And not just freedom from your parents, but also the freedom to finally make a small space your very own. So in celebration of all you freshmen students out there, I came up with a super cool mood board with fun and funky things I would deck MY dorm room out in. Let’s take a look!
Tips for Decorating a Dorm Room
Since dorm rooms are temporary, no permanent elements can be used, so I chose a lot of fun, movable objects such as corded hanging lights, posters and movable storage. Paired with fun and funky geometric patterns and some quirky decor pieces, this dorm room is bold yet inviting. The perfect place to do some serious studying or hang out with friends on friday nights! Just because you are on a cement room with white walls, you don’t have to sacrifice style and comfort. Heres some other great ideas to deck-out your dorm.
Fun pops of orange really liven up this space.
This is a really cool way to display your photos and create a wall of art at the same time!
Globe lights make that dull, square room feel less like a dungeon.
Bookshelves and a comfy seating area makes for a great study nook.
And when designing your room, don’t forget about the most important element…your study area! Find out how I created one for around $100.
Thanks again to the Remodelaholic team for having me today!! And best of luck to all you freshmen out there:)
